Apple Orchard

The students in Family and Consumer Sciences classes went to Cain's Apple Orchard today where they learned about the packaging process, ways in which apples are provided with calcium for prevention of diseases such as spotted exterior and flesh, and the cooking and baking properties of apples. In addition students were able to sample Honey Crisp apples, pick Cortland apples and sample grapes. Upcoming labs will include baked apples, apple crisp and applesauce.  It was a gorgeous day for an apple adventure! Thank you to Cain's Orchard and our driver, Diane for a great field trip!
