Career Exploration in Action!
We were excited to welcome Trempealeau County Sheriff Erika Koxlien, an Osseo-Fairchild Alumni, to our 6th Grade Career Exploration class!
Sheriff Koxlien shared her journey into law enforcement, discussed the responsibilities of serving the community, and answered great questions from our students about careers in public safety. It was inspiring for students to see a local graduate return and show how classroom learning can lead to real-world careers.
Thank you, Sheriff Koxlien, for taking the time to invest in our students and for being a great role model for Thunder Nation!

Senior Spotlight – Evan Hageness 🎓
We are shining the spotlight on our graduating Class of 2026!
🎓 Plans after graduation:
I plan to attend Western Technical College to complete my general education courses, then transfer to the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse to earn a degree in Mathematics Education so I can become a math teacher and inspire future generations of students.
🌟 Favorite Subject:
Math — it has always come easiest to me, and I enjoy how it challenges my thinking while allowing me to solve problems in clear, logical ways.
🌟 Best Memory:
Being part of a football program that many had given up on. It motivated me to help bring hope and a positive future back to the team.
🌟 Favorite Teacher:
Mr. Marino, for teaching me valuable teaching skills and showing creative ways to make learning fun and engaging again.
🌟 Activities I Was Involved In:
Football — an experience that helped shape my character and taught me how to overcome challenges alongside my teammates.
🌟 What I’ll Miss Most:
Spending meaningful time with others and appreciating those moments before everything eventually comes to an end.
🌟 Advice for Younger Classmen:
Take advantage of every opportunity, learn from your mistakes, and value the people around you. Your time here goes by faster than you think, so make it meaningful.
We wish you all the best, Evan! 🧡🖤

Dear Osseo-Fairchild Elementary Families-
As we plan for the future of our early childhood programming, we want to share that Osseo-Fairchild Elementary is in the early stages of exploring a transition from a half-day 4K program to a full-day 4K option. We recognize that families have a wide range of thoughts and feelings about this possibility, and we deeply respect both those who support the idea and those who have concerns.
First and foremost, it is important to note that a full-day 4K model would not add additional academic expectations for students. The academic components would remain the same or very similar to our current program. What a full-day model would allow for is more time; time for play-based, hands-on learning experiences that are developmentally appropriate and proven to strengthen early literacy and math skills while also supporting social-emotional growth.
A full-day schedule would also provide additional opportunities for recess, lunch, rest time, and expanded access to Art, Music, and Physical Education. These elements are critical to young learners and support the whole child, not just academic development.
As part of this transition, families would have the option for their child to attend 4K using a half-day model. From what we have seen and heard from surrounding schools already offering full-day 4K, many families who initially choose the half-day option often transition to full-day after seeing what the program truly entails and how their child benefits from the added time and experiences.
At this point, we are still exploring what a full-day 4K program could look like at Osseo-Fairchild. We understand there will be many questions, and we are committed to communicating clearly and consistently as this work continues. We anticipate having more detailed information to share at our 4K Round-Up in April.
Thank you for your thoughtful engagement and for partnering with us as we explore options that best support our youngest learners and their families.
Sincerely,
Jimi Zawacki
